“For by grace you haven been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Eph. 2:8-9) Grace = unmerited favor, undeserved gift, getting something good you do not deserve. Saved = rescued from something bad. In this case from the death penalty, relational divorce from God, spiritual separation.  Faith = trust, reliance, dependence, adherence, confidence.
